Army Sergeant James “Jame” Barrett of Ferris, Texas.

James was born in Dallas, Texas,  to Rick and Cheree’ Barrett. He graduated from First Baptist Academy in Dallas, in 2001. He attended Harden Simmons University in Abilene, where he graduated with a degree in Police Science in 2006.

Following graduation, James enlisted in the United States Army. His military occupational specialty included Infantry, Security Detail and Mortars. James attained the rank of sergeant.

SGT James Barrett’s awards and commendations include: Iraqi Campaign with 2 stars, Army Commendations (x4), Army Achievements (x2), Meritorious Unit Commendations (x2), Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Marksmanship with Rifle Bar and German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency in Gold.

Those left to cherish his memory, his parents, Rick and Cheree’; his sister and brother-in-law, Reyna and Nick McMillon; niece, Maddie McMillon; nephews, Wyatt and Doak McMillon; grandmother, Midge Douglas; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

SGT James “Jame” Barrett lost his battle with PTS on August 1, 2016. He was 33 years old.

    My beloved grandson, James Barrett, is now at peace with our Lord Jesus. We who are left behind still grieve, but he doesn’t have these issues any longer and for that I say Praise the Lord!

    Jamie always had a Cheshire Cat smile!!! He was older than my son Josh but played for the Saints of 1st Baptist Academy with Josh!!! He would come with his parents to the Five Hundred bed shelter my husband was Director of Operations and Pastor of on Sundays… with is parents and grandmother who lead our music!!!My Son was a pallbearer and my husband preached his funeral. Sweet Sweet family and Jamie was as well!!! Miss his sweet smile!!! Say hello to my mom who past recently!!!πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ˜Š

    I am so sorry for your loss. I love and miss you guys. I live in far N. Ft Worth on the same street as my daughter, Jill and her family. This week she just had her 6th child. Her oldest is 13 and the youngest is 5 plus the new baby. Chad and his kids live in the Austin area. His daughter has a 10 month old daughter and his son just graduated high school and starts college in the fall. I am truly blessed!
