Army Sergeant Donald Charles Redden, also known as “Donnie” or “DJ”, was born May 3, 1982, in Oberlin, Ohio, to his parents Ralph Redden (passed away October 26, 2014, and is now in heaven with Donnie) and his mother, Mary Bean-Brown of Lorain, Ohio; beloved father of Dustyn Kelli and Dallen Kyle Redden, both of Texas; beloved brother of Alicia Huff of Youngstown, Ohio, Rebecca (David) Catchings of Eagle River, Alaska, and Tamara (Jim) Teter of Lorain, Ohio; beloved uncle, cousin, grandson & friend to so many.
SGT Redden served honorably in the United States Army for over 7 years. A Persian Gulf War combat veteran, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal, earning the rank of sergeant.
He grew up in Ohio and Florida, but he fell in love with Texas the moment he set foot there. He loved the Army and was dedicated to all those he loved. He was always quick with a smile and a laugh, and had the biggest heart a person could have. He loved hunting, fishing, barbecuing, and thought deer was its own food group.
SGT Donald Charles Redden lost his battle with PTS, December 25, 2013. He was 31 years old. He is missed dearly. His final resting place is Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas.
